A PBIS based program focused on behavioral support and academic success in the Southern Kern Unified School District.
Ascend uses a school wide Positive Behavioral Intervention System where students learn how to modify their own behavior through self-regulation and reflection.
Students are assessed throughout the day on their specific behaviors, staying on task and assignment completion. The students talk with staff and have discussions on strategies that will help them manage their behaviors.
Through positive behavior and academic success students earn access to our school reward room, the school store, special parties and field trips.
Although Ascend focuses on behavioral strategies and intervention, we are equally focused on rigorous academics.
We want our students to leave Ascend academically successful. Every student uses the board approved curriculum and books.
We offer several intervention programs to help students close the gap in education that may have occurred. These include but are not limited to Accelerated Reading, iRead, IXL math, and IXL English.
Those students who do graduate 12th grade receive a WASC accredited diploma through Rosamond High School.
Here at Ascend we believe each student has within them the ability to be academically and behaviorally successful when they are given the right tools and motivation.
